Series director + words: Susie Davidson Powell
Videographer: Ethan Travis/Relentless Awarenes
No-groni recipe: Susie Davidson Powell
Location: The Greenhouse Social Club at La Serre, a private members club. Albany, N.Y.

The cocktail: No-Groni — a non-alcoholic alternative to a Negroni
N/A Brands: Monday Gin + Sentia Gaba Red Botanical (Ashwagandha, Tulsi Leaf Magnolia Bark, Rose Flower, Passionflower, Gentian Root, Rhodiola Root, Linden Flower, Liquorice Root, Hawthorn Berry)
No-groni recipe: Susie Davidson Powell

The Backstory: The Negroni is a classic bitter cocktail made with three-equal parts of gin, Campari and vermouth. It’s easy to build, easy to batch, and easy to adjust by switching out one of the parts. Use bourbon or rye in place of the gin and you have a Boulevardier; use rum in place of gin and you have a Kingston Negroni. The story goes that Count Camilo Negroni demanded a bartender in Florence, Italy, strengthen his favorite Americano (equal parts Campari, sweet vermouth and soda water) by replacing the soda water with gin.

For our non-alc version, we gave Trinel, zero-proof Monday Gin, non-alc Sentia Gaba Red with bitter notes similar to Campari, and a combination of simple syrup and angostura bitters for a cocktail that closely resembles the flavor profile of a classic Negroni. - SDP

The build:
2-ounces Monday Gin (zero proof)
1-ounce Sentia Red
1/2 ounce orange bitters
1/2 ounce simple syrup

Orange twist, for garnish
Add the ingredients over ice. Stir until chilled for about 20-30 seconds. Strain over a large ice in a rocks glass. Zest the orange peel over the cocktail and the rim of the glass. Garnish with the orange twist.
