Hotel Lilien

6629 NY-23A, Tannersville | hotellilien.com

We like it for: Cocktails, dinner, date night. (Open to the public after 5pm. *Grounds + pool for hotel guests only.)
Must try: Maple roasted carrot salad, smoked brisket tacos, miso deviled eggs and their excellent fried chicken sandwich on a Martin’s potato bun. Save room for the skillet cookie for two. Definitely order the Illegal mezcal Evil Twin cocktail made with fresh green juice or the Hot Damn made with cucumber, lime and chile-infused tequila. Tight little wine and beer list too.
The Vibe: Classic retro Catskill getaway in a boutique hotel with a large cocktail bar and lounge, complete with vintage throw rugs, velvet sofas, pool table and wraparound porch. Throw flannels + Blundstones in a weekender bag and head for the Catskill Mountains.
Sound: Catskills disco chic: Kill the Lights (with Nile Rodgers) - Alex Newell, Jess Glynne; Ride Like The Wind (extended disco mix) - Chris Cross; I want your love - Chic. DJ Sir Shorty plays on Saturday nights from 5 to 10 p.m. and Hotel Lilien has live music on Sundays from 5 to 7 p.m. as part of their Stick Around Listening Series.
Style: Channeling classic Catskills with a side of Brooklyn upstate.

Hotel Lilien has polished the antiques and floofed up the vintage style to turn an 1890s Catskill estate into a destination home-base for your weekend travels. And while the priority is on guests (and weddings) — with the grounds and pool for guests’ sole use - visitors and locals can belly up to the bar or settle in to one of the furnished nooks from velvet sofas to armchairs with reading lamps to a piano room and the wraparound porch. The hotel bar and kitchen are open to the public from 5 p.m. daily and Hotel Lilien has partnered exclusively with live music promoter Wild Honey Pie to host their intimate live music sets upstate. But, with a good cocktail program and a short but tasty menu of shareable small plates plus an excellent fried chicken sandwich alongside fish and chips, it’s a casual spot to drop in or stay for dins. Only an hour from Albany, it’s an ideal spot for exploring the Tannersville-Hensonville-Windham-Hunter area or checking out restaurants like Restaurant Matilda and Tabla within 15-minute reach.

Parking: Onsite parking lot
Nearby: 1. Matilda at The Henson 2. Day June Luncheonette (Hensonville) 3. Tabla 4. Deer Mountain Inn (Tannersville) 5. Selena’s Diner (Haines Falls) 6. Jagerburg Beer Hall + Alpine Tavern (Hunter)
