The cocktail: Agua Fresca
The ingredients: Blanco tequila, melon liqueur, cucumber water, lime juice, mint, and agave.
The inspiration: This is a drink I created years ago when working at HandleBar in Salt Lake City, Utah. They focused predominantly on beer but had some fun items for colorful cocktails. This drink has evolved over time but was meant to be light and refreshing while still relatively high in abv. It’s also bright green which always gets attention when one is being made!
The build: the prep for this cocktail is done daily, sometimes even twice during a shift if it’s that kind of night. We mandoline cucumbers in thin strips for the rolled garnish so the rest of the cucumbers get juiced and strained to create our cucumber water. Blanco tequila, melon liqueur, lime, mint, and agave are added to that batch which delivers this bright green refreshing cocktail.
