Pint Sized Is Sizing Up In Saratoga Springs
August Rosa, concert promoter, owner of the Dive Presents Pint Sized bars (Albany and Saratoga,) and former owner of music venue No Fun, is sizing up in a fall move into Mittler’s Market and Bodega Bar, at 33 Phila Street. On October 1, Rosa will take over the classic corner store near the carousel and Congress Park and close his diminutive 700-square foot lower level Saratoga space at 489 Broadway. It’s just one more addition proving Phila Street is the destination in Saratoga. He projects a December 1 opening.
The sizable 2,700-square foot Mitter’s Market gives Rosa ample room to expand operations to include trivia, karaoke, music and a still-to-be-finalized co-located food provider. The Pint Sized model will stay intact with its focus on craft beer and RTD (ready-to-drink canned bevs) but Rosa plans to add a simple cocktail menu. Can we expect Pint Sized to shift to craft culture? “No, there are lots of places that do that really well in Saratoga. We want to keep our authentic vibe which is really a big selection and fast service. But here will have ice machines and soda guns, so you can expect whiskey and coke, gin and tonic, margaritas.”
Let’s clear up the name: Is it Dive or Pint Sized? Rosa hadn’t realized how fond his customers were of the original Pint Sized name, so Dive is the organizing company and Pint Sized is the place. Dive Presents the shows Rosa promotes at local venues like Lark Hall, Hangar on the Hudson and No Fun, as well as the Albany location of Pint Sized. Both bars are officially Dive Presents…Pint Sized.
How’s Rosa feeling about the move? “This is a year of focus. It’s amazing. I’m feeling better now than I have since 2019.”
